Art attack

This was done back in 2009. Do you think it’s a good idea to try again to help McDonough artists get publicity?

“Those visiting the McDonough Square next weekend will be able to get a first-hand glimpse into the process of creating art, according to members of the McDonough Arts Council.

The council, is planning its first art walk event, called the “Art Attack.” The event will be held in front of local businesses on the McDonough Square.

Visitors and patrons will have an opportunity to see area artists as they demonstrate how they create their work, said Linda Schenk, Main Street McDonough director and chairperson for the art walk event.

“It’s a way to bring people downtown and [patronize] the businesses if they want,” Schenk said. “These artists are going to be demonstrating their wares and how they create them, and I think a lot of people don’t normally get to see that.”

Schenk said visitors would be able to meet with the various artists and learn about different art forms as they shop and dine at downtown businesses and restaurants. Some of the artists’ pieces, she said, will be on sale.
